"But Trace, this cover came out like 7 months ago!" Yes, I'm aware but I didn't start this blog series until a few weeks ago so here we are again. Morgan Wallen took a stab at Jason Isbell's "Cover Me Up" which is probably one of the hardest songs to cover thanks to the immense vocal range and power required to hit those notes, and buddy he freaking nailed it. Emotion? Check. Proper guitar riff? Check. Pitch perfect? You bet. Country music at it's best is just a guitar and a melody. Absolutely terrific cover from MW.
