Our city is broken. People across the city of Chicago are hurting today. Riots and looting destroyed businesses from Goose Island to Streeterville, leaving the Magnificent Mile looking unrecognizable. Hundreds of people were involved in the riots overnight, and videos and photos posted all over social media show the destruction and multiple clashes between looters and Chicago police officers.
From high end stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, to restaurants like Portillo's and Epic Burger, and even multiple Walgreens locations, it seems no business was spared from the destruction.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot has set a curfew for the city beginning at 8:00 tonight, and ending at 6:00 Tuesday morning.
