Lauren Alaina opens up on how music saved her

Lauren Alaina has been very open about her past struggles with body image and the effect it's had on her music. She revealed in a recent interview with The Boot how writing about the personal things she went through has saved her.

“It  was a crazy few years, and a lot of life-changing things happened. I  felt like I was drowning at one point.”

“So I just started writing songs about those  things. And then, suddenly, I woke up one day, and I was like, ‘I think  I’ve written my album about all of these things,’ and then we went in  and recorded it.”

“It’s crazy, because I feel like I’m so much more honest with this  music.”  Alaina adds, “and maybe that’s why people are connecting with it   more,  because I connect with it more.”
