#WhatsAwesome is the Park Ridge cancer survivor who asked for blood donations instead of gifts for his 21st birthday! Jimmy Rancich was diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s T-Cell Lymphoma when he was just 17 years old.
The blood transfusions, more than anything, he said, gave him the will to keep going. When it came time for Jimmy to celebrate another birthday, he came up with the idea for friends and neighbors to donate blood at a mobile blood lab rather than bring him presents and over 50 people showed up to donate blood.
