Mother Essence Evans recently wrote post on Facebook about how she makes her 5-year-old daughter pay rent to prepare her for the real world. Each week, Essence gives her daughter seven dollars, and out of that amount, she takes back five dollars for “rent,” which covers the cost of housing, water, electricity, cable and food.
The "rent" money is actually going into a savings account the daughter will have access to when she is 18!
Is this a good idea?
