A 6-year-old is dead, and a family is in mourning in Indiana after a man accidentally shot and killed his daughter while cleaning his gun.
Indiana State Police say Makayla S. Bowling of rural Salem was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital on Friday night. Makayla had been at home with her father while he was cleaning his gun, which he thought was unloaded. However, the weapon discharged, striking Makayla in the head.
Police said detectives don't believe foul play was involved, however the incident remains under investigation.
