Northwestern Student Still Missing After Kayak Capsized

A 20-year-old male student at Northwestern University is still missing in Lake Michigan, and the U.S. Coast Guard suspended their search Tuesday afternoon. However, emergency crews from Highland Park and Lake Forest will continue their efforts on the water and on the shore.

The student went missing after his kayak capsized in Lake Michigan near north suburban Lake Forest on Monday night. The student and another man, also 20-years-old, went out kayaking together but in separate kayaks. The men encountered rough waters due to high winds, and both kayaks capsized

The other man was able to swim to shore and knock on a door to ask for help.
