Good News for Chicago Commuters in 2019

posted by Lance Houston -

If you commute in and out of Chicago, you're familiar with the yearly increases in Metra fares.

Well, I've good news for Metra commuters and their wallets for 2019!

Metra announced this week that there will not be a fare hike next year. However, before you get too excited, it looks like there will be increases the following year.

Metra announced the news in a tweet, saying,

"There will be no fare increases for 2019. We will need your help with securing a sustainable capital funding source going forward into 2020 and beyond. If no sustainable funding source materializes, there will be a rapid deterioration of Metra service as it exists today."

Personally, I'll take whatever I can get! And by the way, if you're curious about where exactly Metra is spending your money, you can check it out here.
