Inside Edition's Lisa Guerrero and her team were reporting on a rise in vehicle thefts known as smash-and-grabs in the San Francisco area when, believe it or not, their truck was broken into!
During the day, the reporters set up a "bait car" with expensive items in plain sight, to attract thieves. Even though it worked, and the bait car was robbed, later that night the team left expensive recording equipment in their truck while it was parked on a residential street. After reporting all day on smash-and-grabs and even setting up a fake bait car, their REAL vehicle was hit!
Looks like smash-and-grabs really are on the rise... And let this be a reminder to NEVER leave valuables in your car!
