Illinois now reports nine cases of a rare polio-like illness that has popped up in several states It’s called Acute Flaccid Myelitis.
AFM is a neurologic condition of sudden onset, typically in children. It effects the brain and spinal cord, and presents with localized limb weakness. According to the CDC, cases have been on the rise in 2014 and right now a surprising number of cases have been reported all over the country.
