Oak Park Community Votes on Guns in Schools, Arming Teachers

To arm, or not to arm teachers? Every school in the country is facing this choice in light of the number of mass shootings and school shootings we face every year. One local community is debating the pros and cons of allowing teachers to have firearms on school campuses.

In Oak Park, the district 97 school board ultimately voted against the idea of arming teachers. This happened in advance of a massive conference in the state of Illinois. The conference is taking place next month, and a representative from every school board in the state will be present to debate and discuss the issue at hand.
