A 4-year-old child with autism wandered away from his preschool in Wheaton, and his mother is desperate for answers.
The little boy is a student at Jefferson Early Childhood Center. According to school officials, the child somehow wandered away from the school's playground and was missing for approximately twenty minutes. While school staff were searching the area around the school for him, he was picked up on the street by a stranger a few blocks from the school. The stranger, an unidentified man, drove the boy to the school and dropped him off at the main office.
When the boy returned to school, he was wet and muddy. The school took five days to notify all other parents about the situation, saying they wanted to conduct their own investigation of the situation.
