Patient Sings During Brain Surgery To Preserve Her Talent

I've never seen anything like this, but I desperately hope it works for her longterm! Kira Iaconetti literally sang her way through surgery in an effort to preserve her passion to sing.

Doctors discovered a rare tumor in the 19-year-old's brain that was causing seizures when she listened to music or sang. The condition is particularly cruel because music and singing are Kira's greatest passions in life.

A remarkable team of doctors at Seattle Children's Hospital performed a specialized surgery that had her wake up and sing, allowing them to steer clear of areas in the brain she needs to produce and interpret music.
