Gunfire at CTA Station in the Loop During Thursday Night Rush Hour

Commuters taking the red and blue lines in the loop had a terrifying experience Thursday evening when a gunman shot a 27-year-old man. There was chaos for people who heard the gunshots, and for those just trying to get home.

The shooting occurred in the CTA tunnel from the red line to the blue line near the Jackson street stop. Police flooded the area of State street between Adams and Van Buren within seconds of the shooting.

A man wearing a surgical mask approached a 27-year-old man, shot him, and ran off. According to police, it is likely the suspect and victim knew each other.
