Illinois Marine Killed Off the Coast of Japan

We're sending our love to the family and friends of Cpl. Daniel Baker this week. The 21-year-old Marine from Tremont, Illinois was killed off the coast of Japan when two planes collided last week.

Five Marines lost their lives when a KC-130J tanker plane collided midair with an F/A-18 fighter.

In a statement shared with Stars and Stripes this week, his parents opened up about how proud they are of Cpl. Baker for following his dream:

“He wanted to see the world and felt called to serve his country in the Marines. He wanted to do his part and join the ranks of some of the toughest, most committed men and women in the world and we are so proud of him for it, even though we feared a week like this one might come.”
