Man Killed By CTA Train at Belmont

Service on the Red, Brown, and Purple lines was greatly disrupted Monday morning after a man was struck and killed by a CTA train at the Belmont station in Lakeview.

According to witnesses and police reports, a 24-year-old man jumped in front of an oncoming Red Line train. The man, whose name has not been released, was struck just before 8 a.m. and taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Sadly, the man later succumb to his injuries.

Huge delays persisted for more than two hours between Belmont and the Merchandise Mart.
