Kids Are Being Targeted by "Momo Challenge" on WhatsApp

School officials around the country are warning parents to be on high alert right now when it comes to kids and cell phone use. A dangerous "game" called the Momo Challenge is spreading on WhatsApp.

The Momo Challenge is encouraging children to hurt themselves, and has even been linked to the suicide of a 12-year-old.

Here's how it works: children who use the app are targeted and told to add unknown contacts. The contacts then ask the users to share photos and videos of themselves attempting to cause self-harm. Children can also be sent violent images and messages as part of this sick "game."

Remind your children to never add someone they don't know, and always report problematic messages to you and to the app.
