Rescue of Naperville Child from Icy Water Caught on Video

One family in Naperville is beyond grateful this week for their local firefighters and first responders! Naperville fire and police rescued an 11-year-old who had fallen through the ice of a retention pond Sunday.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene within four minutes of the 911 call reporting the incident around 5 p.m. The boy told first responders his feet were stuck in the muddy bottom of the pond, and he was unable to get himself out. 

Within four minutes of the first responders arriving, the child was removed from the icy water. His condition stabilized and he was taken to a nearby hospital.
