My heart breaks for this mother... She's already said goodbye to one of her children, and now faces the same fate for her twin sons.
Dylan Martin was born prematurely. He struggled during his first few months, and at six months old he stopped eating. Then he began having seizures. Doctors discovered that Dylan suffered from a rare disease called Menkes, a disorder that affects copper levels in the body.
When he was just 2-years-old, Dylan succumb to the disease.
Now, his twin brothers Charlie and Kolton are battling Menkes disease as well. Doctors at the University of Iowa are implementing treatment, an experimental drug that includes copper injections, in order to give them the best chance of survival.
