Baby Giant Anteater Arrives at Brookfield Zoo

Exciting things are happening at Brookfield Zoo! The zoo welcomed a new baby in December, and he's now made his public debut! A giant anteater pup was born on December 15, and he's the third pup for mom Tulum and dad Lupito. If you want to get a peak at the yet-to-be-named baby boy, you'll have to look for Tulum. The baby spends most of his time on his mom's back, and he will continue to do so for the next few months. As he gets bigger, and more comfortable in his environment, he will begin to explore a bit on his own.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature classifies the species as “vulnerable” as their population declines due to habitat loss, road kills, hunting and wildfires.
