Chicago Restaurant Adds Extra Charge to Customers Without Telling Them

This is seriously messed up! I wonder how much money they've made over the years doing this... And by "made" I really mean stolen, because honestly that's what this is!

A loyal patron of Cozy Corner Restaurant in Logan Square noticed that his bill had been charged an extra penny. While it's not a lot of money, it's still money! He asked the server why he was charged the extra cent and was told it was the owner's policy. Seeing red flags yet? I am!

CBS reporters had lunch in the restaurant and their two bills were each rounded up by 2 cents! That's 4 cents right there.

As it turns out, the owners of the restaurant regularly round up customer's bills. They also claim they round down bills. None of this makes sense to me. Why wouldn't they just charge what the customer owes?

The city is investigating the restaurants for potential consumer fraud.
