Teen Builds High-Tech Prosthetic Foot for Wounded Marine

Kendall Bane was serving in Afghanistan in 2012 when he was shot and injured. Bane, a Marine, was left partially paralyzed from the injury, and elected to have a portion of one leg amputated. He's been using a prosthetic foot, but at over 2 pounds the foot is heavy and makes it impossible for Bane to enjoy many outdoor activities that he's always loved.

An Alabama high school student designed a prosthetic foot specially for Bane. Ashley Kimbel, 17, was interested in biomedical engineering and wanted to design a lighter foot so Bane could go snowboarding and mountain biking again.
