Back in 2011 the case of Timmothy Pitzen shocked the nation, but it was particularly heart-wrenching for many here in Illinois. Pitzen, an Aurora native, was just six-years-old when he went missing. He was last seen in a water park hotel in Wisconsin Dells. Two days after his disappearance, his mother died by suicide in a hotel in Rockford. She left a note saying her son was safe but that no one would find him.
Just yesterday, a 14-year-old boy in Kentucky told police that he is Timmothy Pitzen. He says he was being held captive by two men in Cincinnati.
The Aurora family, and investigators, are cautiously hopeful that this really Timmothy. DNA test results today could confirm if it is, indeed, him.
