According to Chicago Police, this predatory towing operation run by gangs has struck again. Tow truck scam artists preying on Chicago drivers will show up at the scene of a crash, just like they did when one of Anthony Walters' drivers got into a car crash. Walters told CBS that one of his drivers hit an overpass, and suddenly Jon Twist, who owns TMT Towing, showed up offering a tow for $450. Twist is now demanding more than $15,000, holding the truck hostage until he gets at least $10,000. Twist was arrested for a similar incident in April, alongside Angel Cammacho.
Keep yourself safe from these scam artists. Police say a legitimate tow truck company will never just show up to a scene of an accident.
