Ivy League "Spoiled Brat" Murders Father for Cutting His Allowance

A shocking murder case from 2015 is headed to trial this week, and the bizarre story is making headlines.

An Ivy League graduate stands trial, accused of murdering his father in cold blood, shooting him in the head after his parents cut his weekly allowance from $1,000 a week to $300 a week.

The shocking 911 call made by Shelley Gilbert was played during the trial this week. The call captures the immediate aftermath of the fatal shooting. Thomas Gilbert Jr. allegedly shot his father, hedge fund manager Thomas Gilbert Sr., in January 2015. Shelley, Gilbert Jr.'s mother, discovered her husband's body after returning home from going to get her son a sandwich and Coke, she testified Tuesday. She then phoned 911 while attempting to revive her husband.
