We Chicagoans LOVE our beach days! Summer is short here, so as soon as the weather warms up we all hit the stunning beaches lining the shores of Lake Michigan. The only problem with that is the garbage that gets left behind! Take a walk on any of Chicago's many beaches and you're bound to find all kinds of trash left behind by beachgoers: from cigarettes to empty bottles and cans, forgotten clothes and broken flip flops, and really anything else you can imagine. It's GROSS! It's rude to your fellow beach-lovers and it's really not good for the environment.
This story out of Virginia Beach reminds me of our beaches here in Chicago... Let's all pledge to take better care of our shores! Otherwise, we'll end up destroying our beaches. Then what will we do all summer?!
