Two Men Charged With Vandalizing Hammond, Indiana Church

Nicholas Reding, 22, and Aaron Vanoppens, 23, of Hammond, Indiana, have been charged with burglary and institutional criminal mischief after they attacked a church in Hammond.

They reportedly tore apart the Faith United Church of Christ last Wednesday. The two broke into the church and destroyed everything they could-- from smashing the bathroom sinks and windows, to precious heirlooms. They also wrote hateful messages inside the church, like "Hail Satan." A custodian walked into the building around 7 a.m. the next day and saw the destruction left behind.

Members of the church were shocked by the incident. They worked together as a congregation to clean up the mess together. Fortunately no one was injured.
