Doctors weren't sure she would survive more than a few days. They prepared her parents for the worst, and told them to say their goodbyes. Even as Nekhidia continued to defy their expectations, she says doctors weren't optimistic about her future. Nekhidia has brittle bones and a short stature, but she says she never let her physical limitations stop her from excelling in school.
