Lake Michigan Levels Rising Quickly, Closing Beaches Around Chicagoland

After weeks and weeks of record-high levels of rain, we're seeing the effects in Lake Michigan. The water level of the lake is rising to new high levels, and in some places the beaches are disappearing altogether! Some beaches are being forced to close due to erosion. The lake has risen six inches in just the past month!

Unfortunately for beachgoers there's no end in sight. Weather forecasts all show more rain on the way, which can only mean even higher water levels. The Army Corps of Engineers estimates the lake could rise another six inches before the end of summer.
