Mom Warns Others After Accidentally Locking Baby in Her Car

It was a race against the clock to save the life of a baby trapped inside a car in the blistering Florida sun earlier this summer. Christina Tufford wants to share her story with other parents after she accidentally locked her key fob in her car. She exited the vehicle to get her 10-month-old daughter, Maddie, out of her carseat in the back. But when she left the fob in the car, the doors locked, locking her out and Maddie still inside. Tufford called OnStar for her, but her account had expired, leaving the company with no way of unlocking the car via satellite. Police arrived on the scene shortly after but had no way to break into car. Ten minutes into the drama, the air conditioner automatically turned off and the temperatures inside the car started to rise. A tow truck arrived, but they were still unable to open the car doors. Fortunately, a bystander arrived on the scene with a hammer. The officer was able to smash a window and rescue the baby before it was too late.
