The Titanic is Deteriorating

It took divers decades to locate the sunken Titanic. Now, the famed ship is disappearing again and will one day deteriorate entirely.

Metal-eating bacteria, salt corrosion and deep ocean currents are all taking their toll on the haunting wreckage of one of the world's most infamous ships. Divers from Triton Submarines conducted the first manned expedition to the site in 14 years and were shocked to find such significant deterioration, especially in the starboard side of the officer's quarters, where the captain's room was. They also found a variety of creatures living inside the ship.

Experts say the ship will continue to disappear before deteriorating entirely within the next few decades.
