Federal Investigation Says CPS Failed to Protect Students from Sex Assaults

The results of a federal investigation are shocking parents around the city today. According to the 40-page report released as a result of the investigation, Chicago Public School leaders "inexcusably failed" to protect children from sex offenders and sexual assaults.

Mayor Lightfoot says she was appalled by the scandal but is taking the results of the investigation with a grain of salt, saying the federal government likes to take shots at Chicago and she questions their motives. She says nonetheless the city is committed to making improvements and to keep children safe.
