Local artist Mariam Pare has become a master of painting with her mouth, and her work was chosen for a special Christmas card sale.
Pare was just 20-years-old when she was paralyzed by a gunshot wound. She was visiting a friend in Virginia, and sitting a red light when suddenly a bullet tore through her car and hit her in the back. She survived the shooting, but instantly became a quadriplegic. The talented painter had been in art school at the time.
After learning to write her name with her mouth, she became inspired to try to paint again, using her mouth to hold her brushes.
Her beautiful art has been selected to be included in a special Christmas card sale, and will be seen by people all over the world.
