For parents who put their children on a bus everyday, you have to put your trust in the driver. You hope they will care for your child's safety and wellbeing, and get them to and from school without any harm coming to them.
But for a bus full of children, a recent ride home from school was a terrifying experience. The children realized something was wrong when their driver was babbling endlessly to herself, and not making sense. One brave 5th grader used his cell phone to call 911. When police pulled the bus over and administered a breathalyzer test, the driver was found to have a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit.
School bus driver Catherine Maccarone told police she was on anxiety and sleep medications because she was getting divorced. She resigned, and is facing charges for a DUI and reckless endangerment.
