Illinois State Rep. Luis Arroyo of Chicago Accused Of Bribery

A State Representative from Chicago is accused of bribing a State Senator. Louis Arroyo represents the third district. He has been charged with one count of federal program bribery. He allegedly offered to write a monthly check to a state senator for $2,500 every month for six months, in exchange for his support of online gambling and sweepstakes legislation.

Arroyo is consultant for a lobbying firm called Spartacus 3 LLC, which has a client who would benefit from the law. The state senator, however, was cooperating with a federal investigation and was recording conversations with Arroyo for the FBI.

Arroyo faces a max sentence of 10 years.
