Indiana Woman Strangled by Python Was Living With Over 140 Snakes

Indiana State Police say Laura Hurst, 36, was found dead in a home filled with at least 140 snakes. It sounds like something straight out of a horror movie!

The Benton County Sheriff, Don Munson, who owns the home, found Hurst unresponsive. Medics tried to save her but were unsuccessful. An autopsy report says the cause of death was asphyxiation due to strangulation, and it appears to have been by one of the snakes. Police say none of the snakes in the home are venomous, and all except one were inside cages.

Police say the woman owned 20 of the snakes... And the other 120 were owned by the Sheriff! The relationship between the sheriff and the woman is not yet clear, but police did say that the sheriff would visit the snakes twice a week.
