Chicago Police Issue Warning About Spike in CTA Crime

Crime on the CTA has spiked about 2% since Thanksgiving. Police have increased patrols, and arrests have skyrocketed. However, the Chicago Police Department is snow issuing an alert to CTA riders following a series of robberies on the Near North Side that they say may all have been committed by the same person.

Police believe a male suspect, who looks to only be about 17 years old according to his victims, has robbed four people in the last three weeks. He approaches riders on the train and the platform, forcing them to hand over their valuables.

Police say the latest attack occurred at the red line station at 800 N. State street just hours after police held a community meeting to discuss the increase in crime with Chicago CTA riders.
