Field Museum Scientists Make Incredible Discovery!

The Field Museum is a favorite for Chicago residents and tourists alike. The seemingly endless exhibits showcase some of the coolest artifacts known to mankind, from the largest T. Rex ever discovered (SUE!), to a 3-story replica of an ancient Egyptian tomb filled with real mummies! But did you know the museum doesn't just showcase science... They've got scientists out there studying it and making new discoveries!

This week scientists working at the Field Museum announced they have discovered the oldest material on the planet. It's Stardust, and it's about 5 to 7 billion years old. The curator of the museum, Dr. Philipp Heck, says it's so important because, "It's a tracer of the original building blocks of the solar system."
