John Prine's Family Announces 'Picture Show' Livestream Tribute

John Prine's family will honor the late singer-songwriter with a tribute concert online next month. Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine will premiere June 11 at 6:30 p.m. CT on several platforms including Prine's YouTube and Facebook accounts.

Produced by the Prine family and Oh Boy Records, the event will feature "musicians, actors, and friends remembering our beloved JP." The full lineup has not yet been announced.

Proceeds from the livestream will benefit charitable organizations like NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) and Alive, whose Grief Center is providing free counseling sessions to anyone in middle Tennessee who has had a family member die of COVID-19.

Prine died on April 7 from complications of coronavirus (COVID-19) at age 73. The news came a week after Prine's wife, Fiona Prine, announced that he has been hospitalized since March 26 after the "sudden onset of COVID-19 symptoms."

Fiona released a statement on April 8, one day after Prine's death was announced.

"We have no words to describe the grief our family is experiencing at this time," she said. "John was the love of my life and adored by our sons Jody, Jack and Tommy, daughter in law Fanny, and by our grandchildren."

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of love we have received from family, friends, and fans all over the world," she continued. "John will be so missed but he will continue to comfort us with his words and music and the gifts of kindness, humor and love he left for all of us to share."

In addition to Fiona, Prine is survived by three sons, Jody, Jack and Tommy along with his grandchildren and many beloved friends.
