With widespread unrest throughout the city, business owners are concerned about the city's planned reopening. Chicago is set to enter Phase 3 of the statewide Illinois Reopening Plan on Wednesday. Mayor Lori Lightfoot has decided to allow businesses to reopen, to safely get our lives back to normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic. But with the added impact of citywide peaceful protests plagued by outside agitators, business owners are in a difficult position. Nonessential businesses and restaurants have been closed for months, and desperately need to reopen. But between COVID-19 restrictions and fears of looting, many have made the difficult decision to remain closed for at least a few more days.
Parks, libraries, and other facilities will begin reopening on Monday.
