A popular Whiting, Indiana beach is closing for a couple of weeks because due to overcrowding concerns. Reporters say Whihala beach was at capacity every day, making social distancing impossible. And since you're not likely to wear a mask on a beach, officials say the situation wasn't safe. Whiting Mayor Joe Stahura told ABC Chicago there has been an "alarming disregard" of all COVID-19 protocol.
The beach is closed indefinitely for the time being, but may reopen later this summer to residents only.
