28-Year-Old Needs Double Lung Transplant After COVID

Maya Ramirez, 28, is the first American COVID-19 patient to receive a double lung transplant because of damage caused by the virus. She underwent surgery for the procedure right here in Chicago, at Northwestern University Medical Center. Speaking at a recent press conference, Ramirez expressed her gratitude to the grieving family of the donor from whom she received the lungs. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease specialist, is recommending people start covering their eyes as well their noses and mouths. Meanwhile, a new report from NBC shows how prevalent COVID-19 is on various surfaces.
