Miranda Lambert revealed a backstage glimpse of her vibrant wardrobe and flawlessly-done hair and makeup as she gears up for the next leg of her Las Vegas residency at the end of this month. The powerhouse singer-songwriter teased her upcoming Velvet Rodeo dates with a brief clip on TikTok on Monday (November 20), set to her iconic, smash-hit anthem “Gunpowder & Lead,” which made its debut in 2007 on Lambert’s 12-track sophomore album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Lambert kicked off Velvet Rodeo: The Las Vegas Residency in September 2022. She named the series of “one-of-a-kind” Vegas shows with inspiration from a lyric in “Actin’ Up,” one of the tracks on her latest full-length album, Palomino. The 15-track project chronicles a nationwide journey with many destinations and characters along the way. Lambert co-produced and co-wrote 14 of the 15 tracks on the album, which includes “Strange,” “Geraldene,” “Wandering Spirit” — a Mick Jagger cover — and B-52’s collaboration “Music City Queen,” among other fan-favorites.
“I feel like I’ve built a career on being feminine and still keeping a bada** edge, and I think that’s important and I felt like Velvet Rodeo would encompass that. …(Velvet Rodeo) felt like my catalog as a whole, and it’s a line in the new song and it just felt very Vegas to me,” Lambert previously told iHeartRadio’s Amy Brown, who hosted Lambert’s exclusive iHeartCountry LIVE show to mark Palomino’s debut. The show took place at Casa Rosa, Lambert’s bar on Lower Broadway in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. She added at that time: “I’m excited about the level of production we’re gonna be able to do because we don’t do that a lot… I feel like it’s gonna take the shows up a notch, just from a standpoint of, no one comes to Vegas to not have fun.”
Lambert’s next Velvet Rodeo show is slated for November 30 at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood. She’ll perform several others before the final date on December 16.
