Do you have a favorite Italian food?

While carbs in any form, especially a heaping plate of pasta, are never a bad idea, Italian restaurants offer so much more.

Think Margherita pizza with fresh basil and risotto, flavorful lasagna and ravioli, or savory chicken parmigiana. Antipasto appetizer platters with cured meats are also a big hit, and you can't forget about tiramisu and cannolis for a sweet finish to an impeccable Italian dining experience.

While there are a handful of restaurants scattered across Illinois that craft delicious Italian cuisine, only one serves these dishes best!

According to a list compiled by Foodie Haven, the best Italian restaurant in Illinois is Monteverde in Chicago. This restaurant was praised for its cacio whey pepe and wok-fried arrabbiata.

Here's what Foodie Haven had to say about the restaurant that serves the best Italian food in the entire state:

"Chef Sarah Grueneberg, a Top Chef alum, helms this West Loop favorite known for its pasta lab and thoughtful spins on regional dishes. Plates like cacio whey pepe and wok-fried arrabbiata offer flavor surprises without straying from Italian roots. It’s common to see chefs hand-rolling dough near the open counter."
