Spin class popularity is on the rise and now we're learning that spin classes can cause cause TERRIBLE injuries.
According to the American Journal of Medicine, you have to be really careful in these classes or you could leave with some serious health issues.
First time spinners in high-intensity spin classes has a chance of developing somethign called rhabdomyolysis which is a serious muscle injury.
- severe muscle trauma due to lack of oxygen.
- the muscles break down & release contents into the blood stream
This can be fatal and cause kidney failure.
This injury is similar to ones sustained in car crashes and building collapses.
Basically, take it slow. Don't over-do it your first time in class!!
