Facebook just made an announcement that they're planning a major expansion in Chicago.
A lease for a 35-story, 263,000 square foot tower has been signed at 151 N. Franklin St.
According to NBC Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel says that Facebook wants to expand in Chicago because of the city and its
fast-growing tech sector.
Earlier this month Facebook announced that they will train 1 million people and small businesses in digital skills by the year of 2020.
What does this mean for Chicago?
Not only JOBS, but Facebook will team up with Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership and the City Colleges of Chicago to help students find career opportunities and more. The will also fund 50 scholarships which will allow students to attend coding bootcamps and assist in expanding digital marketing curriculum in City Colleges.
