For the last week, friends and family of Aretha Franklin have been asking for thoughts and prayers due to the state of Aretha.
Today, her publicist says that the Queen of Soul died early this morning at her home in Detroit.
The statement gives a time of death of 9:50a.m. and that
"Franklin's official cause of death was due to advance pancreatic cancer of the neuroendocrine typoe, which was confirmed by Franklin's oncologist, Dr. Phillip Phillips of Karmanos Cancer Institute."
Along with that statement, the family says:
"In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our hear. We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family."
Franklin was 76.
