Walt Disney's Childhood Chicago Home Restored to Original Look

It's amazing how many Chicagoans are totally unaware of the fact that this was Walt Disney's hometown! Walt Disney grew up in a Victorian house, designed by his mother, Flora, and built by his father, Elias, in Chicago's Hermosa neighborhood. 2156 N. Tripp Avenue was was built in 1893, and today has been restored to its original design!

The historical home's current owners have made several renovations to the house to honor the Disney family's history.

The house originally cost $800 to build, and today needed hundreds of thousands to renovate it back to it's original glory. The project took five years to complete, and is truly a piece of history.

Mickey Mouse and members of the Disney family visited the home this week to celebrate Walt's 117th birthday.
