Meteorologist Fired: Slip-of-the-Tongue, or Racial Slur?

A TV meteorologist from Rochester, New York, says he was unfairly fired for making a flub on live TV. Jeremy Kappell said he got tongue-tied during a broadcast Sunday morning and uttered what sounded like an offensive slur to African-Americans. Viewers were stunned and took to social media to vent their outrage. “This guy needs to be fired,” was one tweet. “Wow. Call the station. This should be addressed,” said another.

But now, some big-name TV personalities are speaking out and defending Kappell. Even Al Roker took to Twitter to show his support! And I have to be honest here, as someone who's live on the air every day, it's impossible to not get tongue-tied from time to time. I think this was a truly unfortunate accident.
