When Katie and Brett Swantek said "I do" back in 2015, they thought they would be together forever. They never imagine their beautiful life together would be cut short so quickly, in such a heartbreaking way. Brett died tragically in a kayaking accident this past May, leaving Katie alone to raise their 3-year-old son as a single mom.
As Katie copes with the heartache and grief of losing her best friend less than four years into their marriage, she's been lucky to have an incredible group of girlfriends by her side. When Katie discovered her wedding dress at the top of her closet one day, it broke her heart all over again. She came up with an idea to create some new memories in the dress, to tie some more happiness to it!
Her friends all got together in their old wedding gowns for a friends-only photoshoot, inspired by the 1998 "Friends" episode "The One With All the Weddings Dresses," in which Rachel, Monica and Phoebe bond while wearing wedding dresses.
